I am a long-time resident of Elliot
Lake and have been an educator
in our community for 40 years. I have been working in many mediums all
my life. I’m self taught in crochet,
cross-stitch. I also embroider and sew.
Presently, I focus on Chain Maille, Stain Glass,
and Moccasins. I studied “Double Sole” Moccasin
the White Mountain Academy with Yvonne Meawasige. I studied making
infant moccasins with Mary Wabegijig as part of an outreach program at
Best Start. I’ve led workshops in making custom fit single
moccasins patterns with students and adults.
My goal is to produce utilitarian products to be
used on a
regular basis. Double Sole moccasins have a double
– making them sturdy and long
lasting. They can be
simple or as ornate as the maker’s imagination.
