artist Dani Ortman studied Fibre Arts at Kootenay School of the Arts in
BC where she graduated with honours in 2009.
The designer/artist has continued in the pursuit of mastering the age
old craft through a decade of avid weaving.
Dani believes in preserving the integrity of handweaving, whereby
maintaining a high standard of craftsmanship to produce contemporary
textiles. She has worked extensively with twills,
colour and weave, and in manipulating pattern through the use of value
2015 Dani emerged
as a professional textile artist, with invited work showcasing at the Lasting Effect Exhibition; Harborfront
Centre, Toronto. Her work has since
exhibited throughout Canada and the US, and been recognized in
weaving communities across North America.
